Resize image

This operation is a full-scale tool for changing image size with large variety of settings. Initially, there are three Pixel Dimensions controls on the screen. Two value boxes are used to enter width and height of the resulting image. Besides, there is a dropdown list consisting of pixels and percents values. If you choose the first one, the size of resulting image is specified in pixels. If you choose the second one, the size of resulting image is specified in percentage of source width and height.

Document size – three boxes used to specify the size of resulting image in inches or centimeters. They are available if pixels value is selected in Pixel Dimensions list. The first box specifies image width, the second box specifies image height. The third box is a dropdown list used to select image size units. Height and width in pixels are calculated automatically using the specified image resolution.
Horizontal resolution – boxes used to specify horizontal resolution of the image in pixels per centimeter or pixels per inch.
Vertical Resolution - boxes used to specify vertical resolution of the image in pixels per centimeter or pixels per inch.

Use as horizontal – this checkbox is used to assure compliance between horizontal and vertical resolution. If it is activated, these two parameters are equal. In this case Vertical resolution box becomes unavailable and its value equals to the value of Horizontal resolution box. In other case the user can edit both parameters separately. This checkbox is activated by default.
Use original image resolution – use this checkbox to receive resolution data from source files if it is allowed by their formats. In this case, user settings are ignored.
Keeping proportions – use this dropdown list to specify whether the program should keep image proportions. Note that if proportions are kept, size of resulting images may vary from that specified in settings. In other case, image size will correspond to the specified height and width, while image proportions may be distorted.
Interpolation method – use this dropdown list to select one of two possible interpolation methods if image size is increased: Nearest neighbor or Bilinear. The first method is faster but its result is rougher. The second method takes more time but provides smoother color transition between parts of the magnified image.
Don't zoom, if source image size is smaller – use this checkbox to avoid zooming images if their size is smaller than that specified in the settings. The larger images will still be reduced. Use this option if you do not wish to increase image size.
